Experience spanning 25 years
Dr Kristian Glagau and Dr Hans Dietl launch Orthomol pharmazeutische Vertriebs GmbH. The fledgling company moves into 140 m2 of office space in Poststraße, Langenfeld. In the beginning there are just two people on the Orthomol team.
Orthomol receives its first income from the sale of the first 14 packets: 650.59 Deutschmarks.
The concept of orthomolecular nutritional medicine is offered by Orthomol via physicians and pharmacists and the team also presents its range of products at medical symposia and congresses. The founder of orthomolecular nutritional medicine was Linus Pauling, two-time winner of the Nobel Prize.
The administration, warehouse and shipping are now located in Herzogstraße. The Orthomol team has grown to 36 employees, 7 of whom work in field sales.
Turnover hits 7.5 million Deutschmarks for the first time.
Specially developed machinery is used for filling and packing the Orthomol products.
Orthomol expands in Langenfeld and opens its second site here. The 100th employee joins the company.
From the very beginning Orthomol prioritises state-of-the-art technical equipment and quality.
The ready-to-drink vial is introduced as a form of administration.
The site in Elisabeth-Selbert-Straße is expanded to 5,960 m2. It handles goods receipt, production, warehouse and shipping, among others.
In the preceding years the number of people working at Orthomol has increased more than tenfold and the company now has around 170 in-house and field service employees.
Orthomol receives several awards, including the Company Award from the Federal Association of German Management Consultants (BDU) which is regarded as the “Nobel Prize” for German businesses. Dr Kristian Glagau is also presented with the Enterprise Award for Innovation by the German Association of Small and Medium-Sized Businesses (BVMW – Bundesverband der mittelständischen Wirtschaft).
The offices in Elisabeth-Selbert-Straße are expanded again: purchasing, event management, human resources and the customer service centre move into the third site in Langenfeld. 360 people are now employed at Orthomol.
“Orthomolinis” is launched: it is Orthomol’s first company childcare facility. The “Breakfast Club” – the monthly staff breakfast – becomes a further part of Orthomol’s corporate culture.
Orthomol is certified regularly by TÜV Rheinland according to various guidelines, e.g. according to the provisions specified in ISO 22.000, the most important international standard for food safety.
Orthomol products are now available in four forms of administration: tablets/capsules, granules, ready-to-drink vials and direct granules.
Another building is added to the complex in Herzogstraße.
Following the death of company founder Dr Kristian Glagau, the second generation takes over the helm at Orthomol.
Orthomol sends a big blue truck on a “Better Health” tour. Interactive facilities enable a wealth of visitors across Germany, both young and old, to learn about healthy eating and the role of micronutrients in health.
Orthomol opens a new site in Vienna, Austria - the first Orthomol office in a foreign country.
Orthomol is able to attract prominent supporters such as Sabine Christiansen and Attila Hildmann. In collaboration with the vegan chef and bestselling author Hildmann, Orthomol launches the first vegan orthomolecular product on the market at the beginning of 2014.
Products from Orthomol are now available in more than 30 countries around the world.
Donations for “Die Arche” (Christian children and young people’s charity, active throughout Germany) amounting to more than 100,000 euros are collected by Orthomol in 2016.
Orthomol launches a new brand on the German pharmacy market: Quickcap. Four combinations of vital substances with specific dosages are presented under this umbrella.
In 2016 more than 400 Orthomol employees celebrate the 25th anniversary of the founding of our family business.
Orthomol launches a new product line with five products that each combine a nutrient with a phytoextract.
Social commitment activities are grouped under the message “With love from Orthomol”. In addition to over 120,000 euros raised for DIE ARCHE e.V., Orthomol makes an increasing number of wishes come true in the region.
